ACTION DAY REQUEST: JOIN OUR PICKET LINE!

Eu7R-Z4kzQ-v4CwwxOQ7vgr3_KkaUolZ2SBQN--HX7oJoin our picket line THIS SATURDAY, Feb 15, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM!

We’re asking for volunteers to take part in peaceful actions aimed at raising public awareness of Knowland Park and the zoo’s disastrous plans for its development. Tentatively, we are planning to continue these pickets through February on Saturdays, but we have a lot of irons in the fire right now so we will confirm in advance as we see how those other things develop.

Join us to picket at the Oakland Zoo entrance (intersection of Golf Links Road and Mountain Blvd.)!

You can park on Mountain Blvd. then walk back to the zoo entrance; please carpool, if possible.

The death of Pete Seeger late last month inspires us to get up and exercise our citizenship muscles on behalf of protecting our local environment from destruction. No one should be able to privatize our Park and push off native wildlife. Come out early, stand up for the Park, and have the rest of the weekend to play! Your participation is very much appreciated and will make a real difference.

If you can come, please RSVP to Elise at info@friendsofknowlandpark.org so we can get a rough headcount for planning. We’ll have signs and flyers, but feel free to make or bring your own if you have them! Our goal is to continue to inform zoo visitors and the community at large about the Park and the wildlife habitat the zoo plans to bulldoze, and to urge the zoo to reconsider its development plans in step with a more 21st century vision of conservation education.
